Blast near Israeli mission in Delhi

NEW DELHI:  – No casuality was reported after a low level explosion near the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi, India on Tuesday. All the staff members of Israeli mission are safe as per official statement issued after the incident. Investigations into its cause were ongoing.

Police and investigating agencies investigated the blast site and recovered sharpnals while Israel has urged its citizens in India, specifically in New Delhi, to exercise caution. The blast “may have been an attack”, Israel’s National Security Council said in a statement issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.


After the blast, Indian media went in its usual frenzy of sensationalism and pointed fingers towards obvious target i.e. Pakistan. More twist was added by the reports that some letter to Israeli ambassdor for India was also found by police.

Blast Near Israeli Mission in India

Israeli missions around the world have been put on alert after this blast amid on going Israeli aggression in Gaza. Israel has upgraded its travel advisory for citizens in India after the attack as well with caution that there is “a fear of a recurrence of the events”, hence its citizen on Indian soil have been asked to minimize their exposure in open and crowded places.

“We can confirm that around 5:20 pm there was a blast at close proximity to the embassy,” Israeli Embassy spokesperson Guy Nir told Reuters, adding that local police and security teams were investigating.

Indian police and law enforcing agencies rushed to the spot and carried out an extensive more than 3 hours long search operation but nothing was recovered.

Current attack is not an isolated event in this regard. In January 2021, a similar blast took place near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi without casuality. Israel had declared it an act of terrorism back then.
